Board Meeting Minutes – 170/365

12/23/20

Another day of pleasant El Paso sunshine. I went to the park earlier today and had it to myself for a bit. But not to long after arriving a couple of kids showed up.

I did my best to keep my distance. I warmed up a bit by practicing ollies. Super rusty. I noticed how heavy I was breathing, too. It’s been over a month since I was actually skating every day, and damn did I lose some fitness.

After catching my breath I dropped in on the smaller quarter pipe a few times before skating the bowl. There was a hip that I haphazardly tried to ollie over a few times, but I wasn’t fully committed to learning it. I wanted to carve the bowl. Especially because a few more people showed up, and none of them were in the bowl.

I woke up this morning thinking of a new line I wanted to try. Drop in on and angle in the pocket and pump over the hip adjacent to the sphere. From there I’d have a good line to make a big front side carve.

A good plan in theory, but transitioning over the hip turned out to be a challenge for me. I couldn’t quite get the hang of shifting my weight over the hip. Which led to a few slams. I got it a few times, but would’ve liked to get up the wall a but more.

By now the park was too crowded for comfort and I hit the road. I think if I get there before 9 I’ll have the park to myself in the next few days. Don’t wanna push it with COVID, though.
